About The Event

Join us for an inspiring edition of our Bringing People Together networking series as we welcome Michael McMullan, Executive Officer of Fishability. Following a distinguished career in the public service holding numerous senior leadership positions, Michael stepped into the Executive Officer role in December 2020 after serving 11 years as a board member, secretary, and chairman of Fishability’s Governance Committee.

This special evening begins with open networking over light refreshments, followed by an engaging presentation and Q&A session. Michael will share insights from his transition from high-level public service into non-profit leadership, combining his extensive background in administration, governance, and strategy with his lifelong passion for fishing. Attendees will hear firsthand about the vital work Fishability undertakes across Western Australia to ensure individuals living with disability and facing adversity can experience the therapeutic, social, and developmental benefits of recreational fishing.

Community Impact & Inclusive Recreation

Michael will discuss the real-world impact of creating accessible pathways to outdoor activities, the importance of robust community governance in grassroots non-profits, and how dedicated volunteer networks drive meaningful, long-term inclusion. Following the presentation, the floor will open for an interactive Q&A session, giving local professionals and community leaders the opportunity to discuss collaborative community initiatives, non-profit sustainability, and inclusive recreation.

Whether you are looking to expand your local professional network, learn about non-profit governance, or hear an inspiring Western Australian community story, this is an evening not to miss.

Start your morning with purpose at our Monthly Committee Breakfast. Once a month, the Rotary Club of Scarborough dedicates our morning meeting to the "engine room" of our club.

Rather than a formal guest speaker, this is a collaborative session where our five core committees meet over breakfast to drive our local and international projects forward. It’s an energetic, hands-on morning where ideas turn into real-world impact.

What’s on the Table?

Our committees will be huddled up to discuss the latest updates on:

• Community: Local Scarborough initiatives and support.
• Vocation: Mentorship and professional development programs.
• Youth: Student exchanges and our annual TAFE awards.
• International: High-impact projects like Wheelchairs for Kids and clean water initiatives.
• Club Services: Planning the social events and logistics that keep our club connected.

Open to the Public

Are you curious about how Rotary works or looking for a way to give back to the Scarborough community? This monthly breakfast is the perfect "no-pressure" environment to meet our members, hear what we are currently working on, and see where your own passions might fit in.

Join us for a wonderful morning as we welcome back Liza Kneebone, a past outbound Rotary Youth Exchange student who is nearing the completion of her university studies as an exercise physiologist. During her presentation, Liza will share reflections on how her exchange experience influenced her personal and professional growth. She will also discuss her journey through her exercise physiology studies, offering insights into the vital role this field plays in improving movement, health outcomes, and quality of life.

This meeting is a fantastic opportunity for members and guests to see the long-term, positive impact of Rotary's youth programs on the lives of local young professionals.

No Limits Perth is a local charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable individuals and families experiencing crisis, financial hardship, domestic violence, or homelessness by providing essential household items, furniture, and practical assistance right when it is needed most.

Join us for a key date in our governance calendar as we host the joint Annual General Meeting (AGM) for both the Rotary Club of Scarborough and our signature project, Wheelchairs for Kids Australia. This morning session will fulfill our constitutional requirements, featuring the presentation of annual financial reports, updates on compliance, and a review of the strategic directions for both organisations.

In addition to formal business, the joint AGM serves as a reflection on the collective achievements of the past year. Members will hear comprehensive summaries of our local community projects alongside the manufacturing and distribution milestones achieved by Wheelchairs for Kids. We will also formally acknowledge the dedication of our board members, volunteers, and supporters who keep both organisations running smoothly. While this is a business-focused meeting, visitors and community members are welcome to attend to gain insight into the administrative foundations that power our impact.

About the Event

Join us for an impactful edition of our Bringing People Together networking series as we welcome the CEO and National Director of BNI Australia, Frederick Marcoux. If you have ever walked into a room full of strangers, grabbed a drink, and gravitated straight to the people you already know, this session will transform how you approach business networking.

The evening begins with open networking over light refreshments, followed by an exclusive presentation delivered by Frederick. Drawing on his extensive background as co-author of The 29% Solution and his leadership in growing BNI into Australia's largest business network of over 7,000 members passing more than $750 million in business annually, Frederick will deliver an engaging, humorous, and practical address. Following the presentation, the floor will open for an audience Q&A session.

Practical Insights & Giving Back

Frederick will break down proven, practical strategies you can implement the very next day:

• Why networking is fundamentally about relationship building rather than hard selling

• How to enter a room with confidence and know exactly where to start

• The VCP Process (moving contacts from Visibility to Credibility and Profitability)

• The GAINS approach for highly productive one-to-one business meetings

• How to be deliberate and strategic about the long-term relationships you nurture

The evening also highlights Frederick's commitment to community impact through the BNI Foundation Australia, demonstrating how business philosophies like "Givers Gain" seamlessly align with Rotary's principle of "Service Above Self."

Whether you are looking to sharpen your networking skills, build strategic referral partnerships, or connect with local business owners in a relaxed setting, this is an evening not to miss.

Event Overview

Join us on Thursday, 3 December for one of the most rewarding dates on our vocational calendar: our annual North Metropolitan TAFE Scholarship Breakfast Award Ceremony. Once again, the Rotary Club of Scarborough is proudly awarding seven scholarships of $1,000 to outstanding current North Metropolitan TAFE students.

These scholarships are designed to back determined students who are achieving strong outcomes in their studies, whether academic or through their positive contributions to learning and team dynamics, despite facing personal or financial hurdles.

During the morning, we will welcome the seven successful student recipients alongside their lecturers, campus directors, and family members to formally present their awards. It is a wonderful celebration of vocational education, hard work, and local talent.

Guests and members alike will hear firsthand how these practical grants provide meaningful relief and encouragement as these dedicated students complete their training and take their next steps into the Western Australian workforce.
